How to prepare for your Laser Hair Removal Appointment
No waxing or tweezing
Do not Wax, pluck, or tweeze your hair for a minimum of 2-4 weeks before your laser hair removal appointment, there must be hair for the laser to find in order for the treatment to be effective. Shaving is fine!
No Sun Exposure
This is one of the most important preparations for laser hair removal. Absolutely no sun exposure for 2 weeks prior to your appointment as well as 2 weeks post treatment, as this could lead to pigmentation. Be sure to plan accordingly for this in when you schedule your appointment.
No Exfoliants/Retinol
Discontinue the use of chemical exfoliants and retinol products 7 days before your treatment, these topicals make the skin more sensitive and may lead to irritation post treatment.
No Self Tanner
Avoid self tanner for a minimum of 30 days prior to your laser hair removal appointment. You skin should be as light as possible for the most effective treatment, this is why many people choose to get laser hair removal in the winter.
Shave it all off
It is very important that you shave the area the day of or evening before your appointment. The hair follicle should be visible but there should be no hair above the surface, the longer the hair the more painful the treatment will be.
